The Fort Peck Tribes obtained a grant through the Department of Health and Human Services to build a much-needed childcare facility in Poplar, MT. They urgently needed this facility, so a modular building approach was the preferred construction method.
Interstate Engineering was hired in November 2020 to begin foundation design, utility design, parking lot, and drainage design to service this facility. The Tribe separately contracted the modular facility, with a delivery date of May 2021. Interstate Engineering was able to design, bid, and administer the contract before the building arrived. The construction utilized a phased approach where the utilities and foundation were in place before the building arrived, with fencing, parking lots, and other exterior improvements taking place once the facility was set on the foundation. Interstate Engineering coordinated this work with the Owner, Contractor, and Building Supplier, and the facility was open and continues to operate with over 50 children attending daily.
